
Lodewyk was born in Johannesburg and spent his early childhood in Johannesburg. In the early 1990’s his family relocated to Mossel Bay.

He moved to Port Elizabeth to study Architecture at the University of Port Elizabeth. He completed his B.Build Arts degree in 2004 and his M.Arch (Professional) in 2006 at the newly formed Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. His Thesis was “De-stigmatizing death: The Design of a Promatorium in a Historical Context of Port Elizabeth”. This deals with the very latest green technology in the world called Promession.
Lodewyk worked during his student years for the well acclaimed firm Studio Kruger Roos and worked on projects such as the New BP Headquarters in the waterfront, UP Law Faculty and the UCT Women’s Residence. After his studies Lodewyk relocated back to Mossel Bay to further his local understanding and gain experience from different firms in the area. He worked on various projects, from upmarket residential houses to the design of large commercial and industrial complexes.
Lodewyk is very involved in the local community being the Chair of the Dutch Reformed Church’s Property Portfolio and Church Council. He is happily married to the financial manager and together they have two adorable children.
